The design of the Allegiance Community Living Center will create meaningful spaces for residents to commit to their mental and physical health, focus on their healing, evolve, and connect with others. The Summit represents arrival and personal achievement, a safe vantage point from which to move into the next phase of a journey. This living community supports veterans returning to civilian life as they seek to achieve wellness and build meaningful roles within their communities. The spaces and facility programming are designed to encourage healthy living, social connection, self-empowerement, skill acquisition, and community engagement and support.

Roots provide support for trees, and this home acts as the root for Veterans’ recovery, social life, growth, and health, by supporting their needs. The driving, concept of roots, emphasizes the community this space serves, by designing spaces that promote engagement, inclusive activities, and social interaction between residents. This design concept grounds the Veterans Home to the location, giving users an experience unique to the location, encouraging them to root themselves within this community. The design supports their physical, mental, and social needs, providing them with necessary resources to recover from service and integrate back into everyday life.
IDEC members can integrate special projects like the Student Design Competition and the Interior Design Education Video Competition into their curriculum.
