Partners in Education Award

Description

The Partners in Education Award recognizes and honors significant contributions to IDEC and/or interior design education by any entity (e.g., design firm, industry, organization, institution) or individual at an international, national, and/or regional level. Any IDEC member in good standing can self-nominate or nominate an individual or entity for the IDEC Partners in Education Award.

Eligibility

All entities or individuals are eligible, including both IDEC members and non-members. Nominees can make contributions to the IDEC organization and/or interior design education broadly.

  • Contributions to IDEC (i.e., support for regional or annual conferences, contributions to The Journal of Interior Design, assistance to an IDEC initiative, etc.)
  • Contributions to interior design education (i.e., providing product and design literature to universities, creating educational opportunities for interior design students, student scholarships, support for research and grants for educators, interior design program development, etc.)

Submission Requirements

Each nomination shall contain the following information:

  • Nomination Letter: The nominator must submit a nomination letter (not to exceed 500 words) that addresses one or more of the following criteria:
    • Significant contributions to IDEC, and/or
    • Significant contributions to interior design education
  • Support Letters from up to 3 References: Support letters should speak to the educational partner and award criteria (not to exceed 500 words). References can be any stakeholder who is knowledgeable about the partnership and its impacts.
  • All submission documents should be uploaded as a single PDF file.

Evaluation

A jury of professionals (previous awardees and/or IDEC members knowledgeable in the area of submission) will review all nominations and evaluate based on a common rubric. Final award nominees are presented to the IDEC Board of Directors for approval and ratification. Award winners will be publicly celebrated at the annual conference and will be announced to the full international IDEC community.

Service Commitment to Continued Excellence

Please note that awardees will be asked to maintain a service commitment to this award for three years following the award acceptance. This service ensures sustained knowledge and excellence in the review process. A willingness to participate will be requested prior to the subsequent year’s awards review.
