Institutional Innovation Award

Description

The Institutional Merit Award recognizes and honors significant and sustained contributions to IDEC, interior design education, and/or interior design by an educational institution (e.g., community college, college, university) at a Council wide and/or regional level. Any IDEC member in good standing can nominate an institution for an Institutional Innovation Award.

Eligibility

  • Nominator must be an IDEC member in good standing in any category of membership
  • Nominee(s) must be IDEC members in good standing in any category of membership
  • Nominee(s) may be from anywhere in the world

Submission Requirements

Each nomination shall contain the following information:

  • Nomination Letter: The nominator must submit a nomination letter (not to exceed 750 words) that addresses one or more of the following criteria:
    • Significant contributions to IDEC, and/or
    • Significant contributions to interior design education
    • What is the impact at the regional, national or international level?
    • What makes this institution/entity a candidate for this award, specifically? What is noteworthy about the accomplishments and contributions listed above?
  • Support References: Submit the names of three references. References will be asked to complete an online form of support that asks for rankings in the following areas: contributions of the individual or entity, as well as his/her/its impact on IDEC, interior design education, and/or the interior design profession. Additionally, they will be able to submit comments (not to exceed 500 words) to help provide direct information regarding the stated criteria.
  • All submission documents should be uploaded as a single PDF file.

Evaluation

A jury of professionals (previous awardees and/or IDEC members knowledgeable in the area of submission) will review all nominations and evaluate based on a common rubric. Final award nominees are presented to the IDEC Board of Directors for approval and ratification. Award winners will be publicly celebrated at the annual conference and will be announced to the full international IDEC community.

Service Commitment to Continued Excellence

Please note awardees will be asked to maintain a service commitment to this award for two years following the award acceptance. This service ensures sustained knowledge and excellence in the review process. Willingness to participate will be requested prior to the subsequent year’s awards review.
