1993 Milestones
The leadership symposium reflects two years of work by the Unified Voice Task Force to investigate the concept and submit a proposal of creating a single, unified professional association in interior design. The task force issues a report, “Overview of the Unification Effort and Proposed Plan,” for review, evaluation, and revision by the symposium participants. Members on the task force represent IDEC, ASID, IBD, the Council of Federal Interior Designers (CFID), International Society of Interior Designers (ISID), and the Institute of Store Planners (ISP). The single association does not become a reality, but IBD, CFID, and ISID merge to form the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) in 1994.
