Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Belonging (IDEB) Committee
Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Belonging (IDEB) Committee: The IDEC Board calls all IDEC members to participate in a newly established committee for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Belonging (IDEB) for a one-year commitment.
The purpose of this Committee is to serve interior design educators by creating a supportive network for integrating IDEB themes into scholarship, teaching, service, and general professional development opportunities. The IDEB committee will support IDEC in establishing an organizational infrastructure, culture, and capacity among its leadership, members, and profession to deliver programmatic activities and training to integrate IDEB best practices into our work as interior design educators.
The IDEB Committee is anticipated to meet and communicate digitally via video conferencing technology. The Task Committee will average 1-2 monthly calls over the academic year, advancing committee work between group meetings. The frequency and duration will be up to the committee members. The Committee will report to the Board twice yearly (before the annual conference and in May).
Per IDEC policy, this is an open call to all IDEC members to participate, made to invite both established IDEC members and new members to contribute to the future of interior design education. The Committee will benefit from having participants who are already actively working in the area of IDEB and can contribute their passion and experiences to group initiatives; however, IDEC members new to the topic of IDEB are warmly invited to join the group to contribute their unique perspectives.

Interior design education. Participation in the Sustainability Committee would ideally require a commitment and understanding of sustainability principles and how this applies to an organization’s operations.
