Seeking IDEC Knowledge Network Leaders!

Purpose

Knowledge Networks are informal groups that share a common interest and commitment to a particular area. These networks have regularly scheduled informal virtual conversations that allow members to share thoughts and scholarship, have discussions, and brainstorm around these topics. This year, one of the Service Collaborative’s goals is to reinvigorate Knowledge Networks and install leaders for two-year terms so that groups can get together virtually several times a year and convene in person at the Annual Conference.

Requirements

The commitment would involve around 2 hours per month, as well as planning and facilitating an in-person conversation at the Annual Conference (or designating an alternate):

  • Advocacy
  • Distance/Online Education
  • Technology
  • We also welcome suggestions for new networks

Existing networks that have leaders are: Accessibility, Community-Engaged Scholarship, Gerontology, History & Historic Preservation, K-12, Lighting, and several others. As you may know, IDEB and Sustainability are now standing committees within IDEC, so while they remain core values and areas of focus within IDEC, they are no longer Knowledge Networks.

How to Volunteer

To volunteer as a Network Leader please email Jessica Bonness at jbonness@marymount.edu with the subject “IDEC Knowledge Networks” by November 17, 2023. Co-Leaders are welcome.

After the call for leaders closes, the Service Collaborative will host a session for all Knowledge Network leaders to help kick-off the Knowledge Networks and begin brainstorming the Annual Conference event.
