IDEC Membership dues are due by September 1.

If you are a new member joining between October to June, you will be asked to pay the full membership fee however you will receive a proration in your second year of membership when it comes time to renew. Please see IDEC’s proration policy for more details.

Please note, if you were an institutional member previously you must renew with one of the options below moving forward.

Membership Categories & Annual Dues

Individual Membership Options:

*All new and reinstated membership applications include a $35 billing fee upon checkout.

Professional Member : $320/year

Professional Membership shall be open to those educators who hold a full-time appointment or equivalent in Interior Design education. Those professional members who are promoted into administrative positions will maintain professional membership status.

  • Diploma, Bachelor Degree, Masters Degree of Doctoral Degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school, college or university, or equivalency as determined by the academic institution.
  • Qualifications shall be vouched for by the applicant’s department head or equivalent.
  • Professional Members are entitled to the following privileges:
    • attend all meetings and functions of IDEC,
    • receive publications and mailings including the Journal of Interior Design,
    • access IDEC member directory on-line,
    • be identified on the Membership Lists as Professional Members and use the initials IDEC,
    • vote on issues,
    • serve as Board Members or act in any capacity on any committee or assigned position,
    • submit two abstracts each year at no cost as a benefit of membership,
    • receive member pricing on annual conference attendance,
    • participate in the annual Student Design Competition,
    • membership in an IDEC Region,
    • participation in IDEC Networks, and
    • nominate individuals for Honorary and Fellow Membership status.

Adjunct/Associate Membership: $260/year

Adjunct/Associate Membership shall be open to those educators who hold a part-time or adjunct position in Interior Design and educators in Interior Design in secondary education.

  • Qualifications shall be vouched for by the applicant’s department head or equivalent.
  • Adjunct/Associate Members are entitled to the following privileges:
    • attend all meetings and functions of IDEC unless otherwise specifically noted,
    • receive publications and mailings including the Journal of Interior Design,
    • access IDEC member directory on-line,
    • be identified on Membership Lists as Adjunct/Associate members,
    • participate in the annual Student Design Competition,
    • receive member pricing on annual conference attendance,
    • membership in an IDEC Region,
    • participation in IDEC Networks, and
    • serve on committees.

Graduate Student Membership: $99/year

Graduate Membership shall be open to those individuals who are full-time students, but not full-time educators. Qualifications shall be vouched for by the applicant’s department head or equivalent.

  • Graduate Student members are entitled to the following privileges:
    • attend all meetings and functions of IDEC unless otherwise specifically noted,
    • receive publications and mailings including the Journal of Interior Design,
    • access IDEC member directory on-line,
    • be identified on Membership Lists as Graduate Student Members,
    • membership in an IDEC Region,
    • participation in IDEC Networks, and
    • serve on committees.

Industry Affiliate Membership: $270/year

Industry Affiliate Membership shall be open to industry allies interested in Interior Design education and the activities of IDEC.

  • Industry Affiliate Members are entitled to the following privileges:
    • Attend all meetings and function s of IDEC unless otherwise specifically noted,
    • receive publications and mailings including the Journal of Interior Design,
    • access IDEC online membership directory,
    • be identified on Membership Lists as Industry Affiliate Members,
    • membership in an IDEC Region,
    • participation in IDEC Networks, and
    • serve on committees.

Retired Membership: $99/year

Retired Membership shall be open to members who are officially retired from their educational institution or design-related practice.

  • Retired members are entitled to the following privileges:
    • attend all meetings and functions of IDEC unless otherwise noted,
    • receive publications and mailings including the Journal of Interior Design,
    • access IDEC online membership directory,
    • be identified on the membership lists as Retired Member and use the appellation ‘IDEC retired’
    • serve on committees.

Honorary Membership

Honorary Membership is an invitational category designed to recognize significant contributions to interior design education by individuals not eligible to be Professional Members.

  • Honorary members are entitled to the following privileges:
    • attend all meetings and functions of IDEC unless otherwise specifically noted,
    • receive publications and mailings including the Journal of Interior Design,
    • access IDEC online membership directory,
    • be identified on Membership Lists as Honorary Members, and
    • serve on committees.

Fellow

Fellow status is a Professional Membership category designed to honor an IDEC member who has made an outstanding contribution to the Interior Design Educators Council and shall be identified by the use of the initials FIDEC. Fellows are Professional Members and entitled to all privileges thereof.
