Jessica Bonness is Program Director and and Associate Professor of Interior Architecture and Design at Marymount University. She is NCIDQ-certified and has over fifteen years of experience as a design educator. She practiced for over 10 years as principal of her own firm, where she completed a diverse array of residential projects in the Washington D.C. metro area and along the east coast. In addition to serving on the board of IDEC, she has volunteered as an exam writer for CIDQ for several years.
Jessica has taught interior design for several institutions at the undergraduate, graduate, and associates levels. Her teaching focuses on foundational skills and professional practice and she frequently integrates her robust industry connections and experiences as a practice owner into the classroom.
Her research focuses on studying Human Behavior and using Human-Centered Design processes to refine problem-solving and improve outcomes in a variety of design applications, and she strives to bridge innovative curriculum design with practice-ready skills across disciplines.
