The IDEC Board calls all IDEC members to participate in a Task Force between August 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023.

Purpose

There is a critical need to increase diversity within the interior design profession. To do this, we need to educate youth about interior design. The primary purpose of this task force is to educate youth about interior design, clarify misconceptions about the industry, and add more diversity to higher education interior design programs and the interior design profession.

Task Force Charge

The K-12 Interior Design Education Task Force is charged with brainstorming ideas for educating the K-12 community about the interior design profession. The Task Force will create a list of actionable items with assessment metrics to be presented to the IDEC board.

Communication Method

The K-12 Education Task Force is anticipated to meet and communicate digitally via video conferencing technology. The Task Force will average 3-4 calls per month. Expect more calls in the initial development of the Task Force.

Eligibility for the Task Force/Committee

Per IDEC policy, this is an open call to all IDEC members to participate, made to invite both established IDEC members and new members to contribute to the future of Interior design education. Participation in the K-12 Education Task Force requires ten members interested in K-12 Interior Design Education with various demographics, backgrounds, and experiences to contribute different perspectives to this Task Force.
