AGENDA

SHIFT POSITIVE
“DENOTING THE PRESENCE RATHER THAN THE ABSENCE OF”

Shift your schedule to commit to coming to Chi-town October 20-21 for two full days for an ‎opportunity to interact with colleagues and to share and discuss positive change that we have ‎discovered in our teaching, research and service.‎

Shift to an in-person, on site conference hosted by Columbia College in Chicago, IL with tours and ‎presentations from local sites, vendors and design professionals. We invite presentations around ‎speculative and developmental ideas on the topics of our history and our future as designers and ‎educators. The committee encourages positive engagements for participants and welcomes all ‎topics.‎

Shift in conference encourages scholars with varying experiences (we are positive towards first ‎time presenters). Presentations reflecting innovative teaching approaches or methods, design ‎research and professional/creative work related to interior design are also welcome. Abstracts ‎presentations may be in the form of presentations, panels, or posters, and may be completed by ‎one or multiple authors.‎

The conference invites individuals (scholars, graduate students, and undergraduate students) to submit abstracts that contribute to the body of knowledge of interior design and interior design education. Scholarship topics may be based on pedagogy, history, theory, design practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and case studies, representing qualitative and quantitative research. Presentations reflecting innovative teaching approaches or methods and professional/creative work related to interior design are also welcome. Abstract presentations may be in the form of a presentation or panel and may be completed by one or multiple authors.

While abstracts are welcome on all topics related to the field of interior design, this conference encourages submissions that support ideas that address the conference theme.
