The COVID-19 crisis has disrupted traditional internship opportunities for many college and university students. IDEC’s educators are now faced with the challenge of integrating aspects of the industry experience and exposure typically gained through traditional internships into their curriculum. In an effort to reduce this burden, IDEC is working to develop an eInternship program for Interior Design educators and students.

Student Goals & Objectives

  1. Learn about the culture in an architecture & design firm
  2. Learn how practitioners interact with a client
  3. Learn how to prepare for a meeting in a design firm
  4. Document work and interactions, process PO’s, complete timesheets, review and write meeting minute.

Here’s where you can help!

IDEC is seeking industry partners to volunteer for engagement opportunities ranging from 1-on-1 meetings with interior design students to webinars (sometimes pre-recorded) on your area of expertise. Guidelines for 1:1 student meetings may be found here.

If you or someone else from your firm or organization has the capacity to help our educators and students, please complete our online survey. Once you have completed the survey, IDEC staff will follow up with you via email.
