Description: Full-time tenure-track faculty position for candidates with earned Ph.D. or terminal Master’s degree (MFA in Interior Design) in Interior Design or closely related field. Assistant Professor in a CIDA accredited program.

  • Eligible candidates must have at least one degree in Interior Design.

Full-time, renewable contract, non-tenure track for candidates with earned Master’s degree (not terminal).

Position begins August 1, 2021 depending on availability.

Responsibilities: Teach on campus undergraduate courses in four or more of the following areas within the interior design field, residential and commercial interior design studios (beginning to advanced), design presentation and media (hand and digital), interiors and furnishings, interior design products, materials and methods of building construction including construction documentation, and digital presentation application (Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, InDesign).Other responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate students, department and college committee service, and scholarly research and activity.
Qualifications: Earned Master’s degree required with specialization in interior design or closely related area.  Earned doctoral degree or terminal Master’s degree preferred with specialization in interior design or closely related area.  Professional design experience and successful teaching experience strongly preferred. Candidate must be studio proficient and tech-savvy. NCIDQ certification required.  Experience with the CIDA accreditation process is preferred. Must establish NC residency by August 1, 2021.The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to implementing the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all areas of academic practice and will collaborate with other faculty in developing curriculum relevant to the needs of twenty-first century Interior Designers.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
